Open Positions

Lead Veterinarian
Associate Veterinarian
Veterinary Assistant/Technician

Lead Veterinarian

Prairie Side Veterinary Hospital

Due to a family emergency, we have an immediate opening in a veterinary position.  The position will be based at a location just south of Milwaukee.  The hospital is part of a 3-hospital group in Southeast Wisconsin that enjoys good standing in the community and practices quality medicine.

This hospital is newly renovated.  The previous location suited us well, but we had outgrown the confines.  Now, a 3,500 sq ft, completely renovated facility serves our patients.  An additional 3,000 sq ft is available for the practice to grow into once you help grow our clientele base.

Veterinarians in our practice have learned and perform:

  • Surgical dental procedures (iM3 drill;  dental x-rays;  endodontics;  bonded sealants, open root planing, etc.)
  • Soft tissue surgery (gastrotomy, enterotomy, cystotomy, splenectomy, liver biopsy, hernia repairs, enucleation, etc.)
  • Orthopedic surgery (tight rope ACL repair, locking plate fracture repairs, pin/plate repairs, etc)

Additionally, our veterinarians routinely manage:

  • Complex corneal ulcers
  • Diabetic cats
  • Long-term chronic renal disease
  • Multiple diseases (simultaneously) such as pancreatitis, Cushings, diabetes

We take pride in the C.E. are veterinarians participate in and continue to push our personal growth.

When our patient’s needs exceed our experience and competence, we refer to one of three specialty hospitals that are within 30 minutes of our practice.  All three specialty hospitals also maintain emergency facilities which allow us NOT to accept emergencies after-hours or on weekends.

Veterinarians in our practice live a full life outside of work.  Our typical work week includes 4 weekdays and some Saturdays.  Most of our veterinarians participate in local community activities, including:  Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, 4-H, Feline Rescues, Hunting/Shooting groups, running clubs/5K, pickleball clubs, etc.

Our location between Milwaukee and Chicago gives us an opportunity to experience much of the “big city” life without the hassle of traffic.  Our staff has visited improv comedy troupes, seen Blue Man Group, played Whirly Ball, heard the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and had tickets to Cubs/Brewers games.

Compensation is based on experience.  Production bonuses are a routine part of our package.  Health insurance, S.I.M.P.L.E. IRA, AVMA/WMVA dues, PLIT liability, DEA license fees, WI state license, and C.E. allowances are all included in our compensation package.

Call 262-694-0402 to discuss the position further or e-mail your resume to DrSusmilch@prairiesidevet.com.

Candidates must be able to:

        • Obtain and retain a license to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Wisconsin
